How Much Does Lifestyle Medicine Cost?
The cost of lifestyle medicine varies by length of consultation with the specialist physician. The cost of a primary care visit without insurance generally ranges from $150-$300 for a basic visit and averages $171 across major cities in the United States. For any additional services such as childhood and adult immunizations, lab testing, or prescriptions, there will be additional charges. You can see our costs below.
Here’s how much your lifestyle medicine consultation will cost at the ALMC:
Please note that while these prices are designed as all-inclusive prices, but they may not include every potential cost (e.g., books, supplies, et cetera). Please contact our Colorado office today for more details.
Our prices are some of the lowest in the Denver area and it would next to impossible to arrange to spend one full hour with a physician in any usual medical practice.
All these costs are designed to be all-inclusive: they also include nutrition counseling, behavioral change counseling services, lifestyle medicine classes, and lifestyle medicine education at our Denver clinic.
What Insurance Does the ALMC Accept?
At the ALMC, we do not accept Colorado or national insurance, including Medicare and Medicaid. Medical insurance has requirements that increase the cost of medical care and distract the physician away from the patient. Patients deserve to be the focus of the physician at their appointments, not the insurance companies and their requirements.
Again, we do not accept Medicare. If you’re in the Connect for Health Colorado Exchange, we do not accept this local insurance either.
What if I Don’t Have Insurance?
If you don’t have insurance, either because you opted out of the Colorado Exchange or because you couldn’t afford insurance, ALMC uses a cash payment system. Our prices are some of the lowest in the Denver Metro area. We offer transparent pricing that’s designed to be all-inclusive: the price you see is the final price that you pay.
Unfortunately, right now we do not offer care-credit. We do take cash or credit card payments.
The Cost of Obesity
However, the cost of lifestyle medicine at ALMC is minor compared to the cost of obesity. On average, adults suffering from obesity pay 81 percent more for healthcare, which adds up rapidly. That cost comes in the form of prescription drugs, medical bills, higher health insurance premiums and many other costs. Severely overweight people often struggle with their energy levels and health, meaning they’re less able to be productive and sometimes present at work—yet another cost. Obesity, like any disease, impacts both health and finances.
If you’re considering bariatric surgery in Denver, it is a significant financial commitment, not uncommonly with significant side effects. Rather than bariatric surgery, choose the pathway of lifestyle medicine, an investment in your health that can pay for itself many times over in lower medical bills, more energy, and improved quality of life. In many ways it is an investment that you cannot afford not to make.
Is Lifestyle Medicine Right For Me?
What would it feel like to lose 50 to 100 pounds or even more? What would it feel like to be able to go on hikes with your kids, or even bend down and tie your shoes without it becoming a whole process? Or to be free from joint pain, aching, tiredness, high blood pressure, and other chronic diseases related to obesity?
That’s what our lifestyle medicine patients have done. Lifestyle medicine has empowered them to change their lives, and their before and after stories are truly astonishing. Lifestyle medicine with its intentional diet and exercise program, helps our patients lose most or all of their excess weight. Imagine how that would feel.
Our patients routinely say that lifestyle medicine was the best decision they ever made.
